At this point, the fluid absorbs energy from the environment thanks to the temperature difference present outside. During this process, the fluid changes state and turns into vapor. The gaseous fluid is then drawn into the mechanical part of the system\u2014the compressor. In the compressor, the fluid is compressed, which increases its pressure and, consequently, its temperature. Next, the fluid moves to a second internal heat exchanger (condenser), where it transfers the accumulated heat to the home\u2019s heating system. As it naturally cools, the fluid returns to its liquid state.
