Avec l\u2019aide d\u2019un ventilateur, il absorbe l\u2019\u00e9nergie de l\u2019air ambiant gr\u00e2ce au diff\u00e9rentiel de temp\u00e9rature obtenu \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur, ce qui provoque un changement d\u2019\u00e9tat vers la phase gazeuse.&#13;\nIl est ensuite aspir\u00e9 par la partie m\u00e9canique du syst\u00e8me, le compresseur. \u00c0 ce stade, le fluide est comprim\u00e9, la pression augmente et, par cons\u00e9quent, sa temp\u00e9rature s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve. Le fluide circule ensuite vers un deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9changeur de chaleur interne (condenseur), o\u00f9 il transf\u00e8re la chaleur \u00e0 l\u2019eau stock\u00e9e dans le r\u00e9servoir. Lorsque la temp\u00e9rature diminue, le fluide repasse \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat liquide.
