António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), at the assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency on 15 January in Abu Dhabi, said that the use of renewable energies is the only way to avoid a climate catastrophe and thus ensure a future on planet Earth for the next generations.
The constant growth of global temperature will lead to irreversible consequences for the environment, leaving parts of the planet completely uninhabitable, as Guterres states. Currently, according to UN data, renewable energies represent only 30% of the energy generated globally, and this should increase to more than double by 2030. We have only seven years left to reverse this usage and feed the planet mostly with renewable energy, in order to preserve the planet for as many years as possible.
