On July 30th, around 5 p.m., ENERGIE inaugurated its new production unit. The new Production Unit will allow, at cruising speed, to increase by 40 percent the production of thermodynamic solar panels.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Transition, Mr. Pedro Matos Fernandes, the Secretary of State of Energy, Mr. João Galamba and the President of Póvoa de Varzim’s Town Council, Mr. Aires Pereira.

ENERGIE’s new Production Unit will allow, at cruising speed, to increase by 40 percent the production of thermodynamic solar panels. The announcement was made by the CEO of the company located at Póvoa de Varzim, Mr. Luís Rocha, in the inauguration ceremony of the new unit, an event attended by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Transition. For João Pedro Matos Fernandes, ENERGIE is “an exceptional example of what Portuguese entrepreneurs are made of”, after having faced a fire and the critical period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This new production unit is our future. A crucial part for ENERGIE to accomplish the future endeavours it has set”, stressed Luís Rocha, during the inauguration ceremony of the new Thermodynamic Solar Panels 4.0 Production Unit, representing an investment of one million euros, the result of an application to the Innovative Production of Portugal 2020 programme.

Upon closing the year of 2019 having produced 10,000 panels, according to the CEO, within 12 months, the company will be able to increase production by 20 percent, reaching, at cruising speed, an increase of 40 percent. “The 4.0 generation of ENERGIE’s Thermodynamic Solar Panels will be even more environmentally friendly, not only due to the materials used in the production, but also for their durability and longevity”, explained Luís Rocha.

After the occurrence of a fire, on February 26th, which destroyed a third of the company, and the critical period caused by the coronavirus pandemic, ENERGIE faced several new challenges: “We have rebuilt the part destroyed by the fire. At a time when borders were closed, we came across the raw material, which had been previously destroyed by the flames, needed to keep producing. We sought new orders, to counterbalance the ones being cancelled. And, furthermore, we completed the construction works for the new Production Unit, hitherto opening”. Today “in light of this event, I admit to be proud of all we overcome”, he added, stressing that the expansion will, as well, allow to hire 10 new employees, accounting for a total of 50.

The Minister of the Environment and Energy Transition, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, and the the President of Póvoa de Varzim’s Town Council, Aires Pereira, praised ENERGIE’s journey hitherto. “This company has travelled an exceptional journey travelled and is an exceptional example of what Portuguese entrepreneurs are made of”, highlighted the ruler, stressing the goals faced by Portugal until 2050 “We will be carbon neutral by 2050. Companies, such as ENERGIE, are vital to produce good products, at fair prices, which, in turn, will allow hotels, families and companies to be more efficient in terms of energy consumption”.

The town mayor underlined how “proud” the Municipality is for “having such a distinctive brand as ENERGIE”. “Póvoa de Varzim has immense pride in seeing the brand ENERGIE scattered through various countries we have the opportunity of visiting”, stated Aires Pereira.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of State of Energy, João Galamba.
