ENERGIE MOUNTAIN BIKING TEAM IN THE PÓVOA 2023 BIKE MARATHON

The ENERGIE Mountain Biking Team participated with great enthusiasm and determination in the 7th Póvoa by Trek Mountain Bike Marathon, which took place on 15th October in Póvoa de Varzim.
This year, the team demonstrated its commitment to mountain biking in significantly increasing the extent of its participation with a 12-strong group accepting the challenge of coping with the demanding paths and roads of this region. Even with the rain and all the resulting mud, the team put in an excellent performance. One particular highlight was Cátia Rocha who took second place on the podium in the female EBike race with a time of three hours and five minutes.
This marathon, organised by BikeService, receives widespread recognition as one of the leading cycling events held in the north of Portugal.
The city of Póvoa de Varzim, which hosts this emotional event, served as the point of departure and arrival for participating cyclists. The 2023 Póvoa Mountain Bike Marathon contained a choice of two different routes, each with their own particular characteristics. The Half Marathon, covering 51 km, provided an intense and gratifying experience while the full Marathon, over 69 km, represented a true test of the endurance and resistance of participants.
The diversity in the routes is one of the great attractions of this event that annually brings together around 1,300 participants. The choice between a more accessible route and another more challenging option ensures that cyclists with every level of ability may join in and enjoy this unique cycling experience. Furthermore, the warm and welcoming atmosphere that permeates the Póvoa Mountain Bike Marathon is undoubtedly another dimension that makes this event so very special. The ENERGIE MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM, always committed to excellence, faced this challenge with the same determination as that put into developing all of the sustainable energy solutions.
