MARCH | APRIL / 2020

Despite a troubled first quarter for ENERGIE, the company managed to achieve an increase in sales in the first months of 2020.

ENERGIE announced 11% growth in its international sales in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2019.

ENERGIE, which produces equipment for domestic hot water, central heating and climatization, mentioned that in the first three months of 2020 has exported 900 solar panels to the international markets, with Italy and the Netherlands emerging as the main destinations for these products.

“It was a positive quarter, although the economic slowdown will be felt, essentially, from now on”, explained Luís Rocha, owner of the company. According to the businessman, sales to the Iberian market also increased in this first quarter of 2020, compared to the same period last year, reaching an increase of 19.8% for Spain and 12.2% for Portugal, but he now fears a slowdown in transactions, due to the covid-19 pandemic.

“The Spanish market closed after the start of the acceleration of the pandemic, which caused the suspension of the orders. The coming months will be difficult, given the economic downturn around the world and the fact that the pandemic is still far from under control in the most varied countries”, said Luís Rocha.

Despite these contingencies, with around 50 jobs to secure, the businessman assured that the company “will continue to fight, not only for workers but also for the national economy”. In February, the company’s facilities located in the industrial area of Laúndos, Póvoa de Varzim, were partially destroyed due to a fire, but a few days later Energie managed to resume production.

ENERGIE, which in 2019 exported its equipment to more than 50 countries, has a new production plant under construction, whose work began in January with an investment of one million euros.
